That’s a good way of looking at it. I know I personally do that as well when I’m having a bad day, as much as I try not to. And I know this girl wasn’t specifically talking about me, but I was still annoyed by her status and it obviously made me question the way people feel about blogs like mine. She was probably aiming it at one person, but I know quite a few people on Facebook/Tumblr who that could potentially be aimed at and who would be offended by her post.
And also, I don’t think she realizes how many people are really just blogging for themselves… it’s not about bragging about workouts or acting like you’re a “legend” and that everyone wants to read your posts. Sure, I like it better when people read what I write, but even if I didn’t have followers I would continue to write about my workouts and my every day life. It’s the best motivator I’ve ever found and it helps me stay accountable. I love going back through old posts and seeing how far I’ve come, and that’s what she’s missing.
I got a lot of responses to that post (here)… and I’m so happy to know that she is in the minority! At least as far as Tumblr goes ;) Reading about everyone’s workouts and life happenings IS interesting to me, so keep doing what you’re doing, Fitblrs :)
