The t-shirt shop is open and ready for business! There are t-shirts, hoodies, and tank tops (plus a few other goodies) for women, men, runners, and supporters. There are lots of options, but if you would like to request a different color (for the logo and/or clothing) or different item, just let me know and I would be happy to add it for you!!
Make sure to pay attention to whether you are buying a runner t-shirt or a supporter t-shirt :)
If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or request, don’t hesitate to send me a message or email me at kl.skogsberg@gmail.com.

6 mile run, 1:12:00
After making myself an awesome scrambled egg, bacon, and cheese breakfast sandwich this morning (and by morning, I mean around noon), I headed out for a leisurely 6 mile run. I kept the pace fairly slow, since I’m still getting used to the heat and I don’t really have any time goals. My main objective was to get out there and burn some calories for an hour or so. Even though I was running slow, it still wasn’t an easy run. My heart was beating out of my chest for a good half hour after I finished running.
I’m glad it’s done now though- I got to stretch with Dakota Joey and now I’m off to run errands and have a relaxing night at home hanging out with the family (+ Craig) and playing a Men in Black drinking game! Yeah, I know you’re jealous ;)

VOTE NOW!
So here’s the deal… my other logo was too complicated to upload onto the online t-shirt shop (file size was too big, too many anchor points for the distressed look, blah blah blah), so I made 4 new ones. Whichever one you guys like the best out of these is the one I will put on the t-shirts!!!
The logo for runners will be this minus the “Support Team” at the bottom.
Which one is your favorite?

I tallied it up, and these seem to be the clear winners for the Tumblr Runs Chicago logo. I can put #1 (or #2) on the front of the shirts and one of #4-9 on the sleeve (if that is doable on Spreadshirt). Some final questions…
1) Do you want a colored logo on the sleeve? Or would you rather have black and white so it can go on different colored shirts? If colored, which one?
2) If #4-9 is on the sleeve, do you want it to say Runner/Support Team on it or would you like to see it left blank (like #4-6)?
3) I am planning on using Spreadshirt, but I’m up for suggestions. Are there any other online t-shirt shops you guys have tried and recommend?
Thanks for your help! This should be the final round of questions and then I’ll finalize the design and open up a store online :)

Guess what I just signed up for!!!!!! If you guessed the Women’s Half Marathon in Nashville, based on the image, you would be correct. I am SO EXCITED!!!!
I was a little nervous to sign up for this race for a couple reasons. 1) It’s only 2 weeks before I run the Chicago Marathon… but if Anna can do it, so can I! And 2) It might end up being an expensive weekend. But luckily, my friend Jenna just moved down to Nashville and will let Craig and I stay at her place for the weekend! Race on Saturday morning, bar hopping in Nashville on Saturday night. I’m excited.
P.S. Is anyone else thinking about signing up? If you are, try the Coupon Code RUNCLUBTN12 to get $10 off.

1 hour spin classes + 2 mile run on the treadmill. Solid cardio workout. I need to start adding in some strength training workouts though!! (Taken with instagram)

Ok, you guys… here are the logos I’ve been working on for all the Tumblrs running (and supporting) the Chicago Marathon!! I’d love feedback on which logo(s) you like. Colors can change and there will be a runner/support team version of each one.
• Which logo design do you like the best?
• What colors do you like?
• Do you want it to say “support team” or would you prefer something else?
• If the logos aren’t big enough, I can try posting them separately to show more detail.
All comments and suggestions are welcome! :)

Trying to pick out a half marathon to run before the Chicago Marathon… this is so hard!!!
Contenders so far: Chicago Half Marathon, Chicago Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon, or the Nashville Women’s Half Marathon. Nashville is so tempting…

3.3 miles in 40 minutes… it was hotter than hell outside. Welcome to summer running! (Taken with instagram)

My first warm run of the year- and I loved it! Craig ran the first couple miles with me, and then I continued on for 3 more miles to work on my face tan. I joke, for the most part ;) When I got back, we ate parmesan-chicken and rice for dinner and relaxed outside. I’m sooo happy that summer is almost here!!

I don’t usually workout on Thursdays, but I had some time before dinner so I decided to squeeze in a 3 mile run! The goal was to run it fast… and I was dying after a mile. A year ago, I ran a 5k in under 25 minutes… and now I’m struggling to maintain under a 9:30 pace. Not cool. It still felt good to push myself and run fast for a change.
For dinner, I made chicken enchiladas (+ Mexican rice) and they turned out amaziinnnggg. For anyone who is looking for a delicious and easy dinner recipe, I highly recommend this one. My last couple cooking attempts have been pretty damn awesome if I do say so myself.

Q:I'm about to commence training for a marathon that begins in 4 months. I go the the gym daily so i'm not unfit, but i've never ran a marathon before. What do you recommend for training?
That’s exciting!! Congrats on signing up for your first marathon :) I wouldn’t call myself an expert by any means… but I have learned a few things from trial and error + googling anything and everything about marathon running. Here are some tips:
• Find a training program you like and one that fits your workout schedule and running goals. There are ones out there with different amounts of cross-training, running, and rest days. I have always used Hal Higdon’s Novice 1 Marathon training program and have found it incredibly helpful. I usually decide when I want my rest days to be and then rearrange the days to fit my schedule.
• Make sure not to increase your mileage by more than 10% each week. If you follow a good training program this won’t be a problem… but still, I need to mention that since I increased my mileage by more than that and it didn’t turn out well.
• Get new shoes after every 300-400 miles. Your feet will thank you. I also recommend a good pair of running socks; I wear Experia. They’re expensive, so I don’t wear them every time I workout, but I make sure to have them during my long runs. And I’ve never had any blisters or foot problems!
• People told me this, but I didn’t listen… CROSS TRAINING IS IMPORTANT!!! I did hardly any cross training during the training for my first marathon and I regret it. Cross training gives you and your muscles a rest from running while still improving your cardiovascular endurance, working other muscles, and helping to prevent injury.
• You can skip workouts once in awhile, but don’t skip the long runs. They’re the key to your endurance during the marathon. And also, run slow. I didn’t listen to this advice either and it was the cause of one of my injuries. Hal Higdon advises to run 30 to 90 seconds slower per mile than your marathon pace. If you don’t know what your marathon pace is, just run comfortably and take walk breaks when you need to. The important part is that you cover the distance, not how long it takes you to cover it.
There are lots more great tips out there, but these are the ones I think are the most important. I hope this helps!! :)
