I went for another [hot & sweaty] run on my lunch break today! It was definitely more difficult than last time to stay cool and not get too sweaty. Which sucked, since I did have to go back to work and all… sorry coworkers. At least I got my delicious falafel sub and burned 200 calories in the process!
In other, not very important, news… I googled the falafel sub to put an image in my post and found that my own photo is the 2nd one that comes up! Kind of exciting… sorry I’m a dork ;P

I ran to Subway and back on my lunch break today! It was nice to get up and moving in the middle of the work day… definitely a nice break from sitting at my desk. The down side is that I feel kind of gross now, but I tried to stop sweating and clean up a little before I put my work clothes back on. I could definitely see doing this once in awhile to burn a few extra calories. Swimsuit season is right around the corner!

I haven’t had a veggie patty from Subway in ssooo long… ever since I discovered the falafel sub! They were out of falafel today though, so I went with the veggie patty… although I kind of wanted to cry or take Craig’s offer to go to a different Subway so I could get falafel. I decided to suck it up and get this though and it ended up being pretty tasty. I’m craving a falafel sub extra hard now…

Falafel sub from Subway?!? This must be new because I’ve never seen this before. I was excited to see a new veggie option on the menu :) It wasn’t terribly exciting tasting, but it was a nice break from my usual veggie delight sub.

So I think I’ve come up with my plan for the Chicago marathon, which by the way is only 33 DAYS AWAY!!! It’s not a very good plan, but it’s something. As most of you know, I have Runner’s Knee and have not been able to run much in the last couple weeks. But what you probably didn’t know is that I haven’t run since last Friday (definitely the longest I’ve gone without running in over a year) and my knees continue to hurt despite the absence of running or really any kind of working out. I did the bike and AMT last week, but even that didn’t feel great.
I guess there’s not a whole lot I can do, but I’m going to do 2-3 hours of cardio every weekend until the marathon to help with my endurance, alternating between the bike, elliptical, and even the treadmill for short periods of time if my knees aren’t hurting too bad. And then I’ll do cardio for an hour a couple times during the week. That should help with my endurance and hopefully not ruin my knees. I know I’m not going to do as well I had hoped in the marathon, but I’ll do what I can. And no matter what, I will finish and I will have a great time doing it.

I don’t know why I got the Veggie Delight sub from Subway. God Kristy, could you be any more boring? Not to mention I had them put A THOUSAND JALAPEÑOS on it and my mouth is on FIRE! My coworker came in and asked if I just got done working out because my face was red and I was sweating and fanning myself. And salivating like crazy. Seriously dying.

Today was a Subway and Starbucks kind of day. Oh wait, that’s every day. I really wasn’t happy with my weight this morning, so I’m trying to refocus myself on fixing my eating habits.
On Sunday morning, I weighed 143.5. Since then, I have run 17 miles and done Crossfit, but I have also eaten a veggie wrap that was too big, and had a margarita. Other than that, my eating has been pretty good though. This morning, I weighed 147.5 and I could have screamed. I immediately starting doubting everything I said in my post the other day about reaching my ultimate goal weight.
I’m going to do my best not to let it get me down. If I want to reach 140, I need to eat better. Period.

Lunch

I almost always go to Subway or Panera when I forget to pack a lunch. Panera has awesome vegetarian options… but it’s so freaking expensive! I spend $10 yesterday on a salad and coffee. Subway is cheap, but as far as vegetarian meals go… veggie delight sub? No thanks. I’m hungry though and I didn’t pack a lunch. What do I do??

…besides try harder to remember to pack a lunch next time!

Just ran 2 miles on the treadmill

and I was going to do 20 minutes on the bike… but all I can think about is food!! I’m going to stop at Subway and then run another 4 miles when I get home. Biking can wait until tomorrow :)

I had Subway for dinner, and for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to have them put a ton of jalepeños on the sub (you know, because spicy things make you burn more calories…) and after I finished it I was DYING. My mouth was salivating like crazy and my lips were bright red for a good half hour (hence why I took a random pic of me in the car).
Anyways… (the main point of this post) I have a problem. Every time I go running, I’m ssooo hungry for the rest of the day. And I know you’re supposed to eat more when you run, but I ate 1,000 calories by noon today, which is not conducive to me losing weight. I think it’s even worse when I run in the heat. After I run I usually have a protein shake and a decent amount of carbs. That should hold me over for awhile, but I’m literally hungry again (stomach growling and everything) within a half hour. Not cool.
So how do I stop myself from eating way more than I should while I’m training? Last time I trained, I pretty much stopped caring about my weight and focused on running, but since it’s summer (hello, bathing suit season!) I would still like to try and get down to 145!!
Easy answer: Control yourself and stop eating so much!! I wish it was that simple…
